Last night, all over the State of Hawaii, and in particular on the Windward side, the rain fell and fell and fell. I must say though, it resulted in many beautiful waterfall in the Koolau mountains!

Every morning driving into work, I am in awe of the beauty of the Koolau Mountain range. There is nothing like the beauty of the waterfall following a heavy rain, or a rainbow that preceeds these raindrops before they fall.

We are truly blessed.

I asked her how she had come across all of these scrubbies and she said that her 90 year old grandmother (Grandma Elaine Masutomi), crochets them to keep herself busy and her mind active. My co-worker said that grandma doesn't want to sell them, but would rather share them with others.

Just wanted to say, Thank you and bless you Grandma Masutomi!

Went to the Henderson Art Festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. They closed down the street in downtown Henderson. It was a HOT 92 degrees outside...but a very nice day.

The vendors were pretty much like our crafter's here selling their wares. Paul and I had a good time...we had handcrafted root beer which was cool and refreshing! We bought a gecko to hang on our wall (any of you that know me know how I cannot stand gecko's -- so go figure)!

They had a section of the festival that was geared toward the keiki. There was a booth that made recycled art, face painting, there were a number of students that had selected a piece of art that they had to duplicate in chalk on the sidewalk. Quite a number of them were so talented, including this young artist that we were quite impressed with. Wish we would have withstood the heat to watch him complete his piece because I'm sure it was stunning!

Just walking around for the hour and a half, in the bright sunshine gave me a sunburn...those poor vendors had to withstand 6 hours of the festival PLUS set-up and take-down time. But they all had smiles on their faces...despite the heat! We can certainly relate to that huh?

  "Gecko Man"

They made some great wire sculptures!

All in all, it was a lot of hot sun and a lot of cool crafts...get it? Cool crafts..haha!

Everyone in my office knows that I am passionate about the color purple. Actually, come to think of it -- it's the favorite color of many of the women in our office.

As a for instance...my friend Jerilyn recently made her own iPhone cover, and wouldn't you know -- it was PURPLE! Check it out!

First she placed her embellishments on her phone cover. She then glued them onto the cover with jewelry glue.

She then painted all of the areas that were not covered with purple nail polish. (I guess you could have just bought a purple phone cover as well and skipped this step.)

Then she painstainkingly filled in all of the "blank" areas with individual crystals! The results were absolutely bling blingy!!!

When I asked where she picked up her crystals and embellishments, she said that she got them at Creations by You (corner of Kuakini and Liliha). Make sure you check them out!

Awesome job Jeri!

Three hours of sleep, glue gun "spider webs" still stuck to my nails, and a cup of hot coffee in my hands...Paul and I make our way to Alliolani Elementary School at 6am. Waiting for us are my daughter-in-law and Shannon...hehe, crafting runs in our family. We put up the tent and set-up the tables...then Paul departs and we get started "showcasing" our handcrafted items.

This was Roxanne's first time joining us at a craft fair...although she used to do a lot of stamping, she has recently been focusing her talents on making very pretty headbands. She has also been dabbling in her other hobby of photography, which she is quite good at!

Roxanne and Shannon relaxing a bit before the fair.

We were quite impressed with the staff that helped with the off-loading. They even assisted with taking your products to your booth for you! The brains behind the oganizing of this particular (not to mention all of the Season's Best Craft Fairs) is Linda and her husband. You can't miss Linda...she's the one with the big smile and clipboard that shows where the vendors should be. Quite a feat if you ask me! Considering they had what seemed to be a lot more booths this year!

Me and Linda smiling for the camera!

All in all, it was quite a day...several of my friends were shopping and dropped by our booth. Sunny, Jan, Judy, Charise with hubby and baby Zoe. Even a couple of very dear old friends came by...Jeanne and Michelle ~ so nice seeing you!

The cafeteria was filled to capacity with an abundance of gift items for everyone on your holiday list...the vendors were smiling as well as the shoppers!

We'll be at Season's Best at the Aiea Elementary School next Saturday! I'll share a list of all of the craft fairs happening next weekend so that you can plan your shopping day. The countdown to Christmas has begun!

Happy shopping everyone!
